IMPHAL, Jan 17 - A combined team of police and Assam Rifles yesterday recovered a huge cache of ammunition from a forest at Sagolmang Pukhao area in Manipur�s Imphal East district.
Police said 300 rounds of M-16 rifle, 44 rounds of AK-47 rifle, two detonators and two local-made magazines were found wrapped in a big polythene bag.
It was yet to be known which group or militant outfit kept the ammunition there and for what purpose. Security forces were keeping a strict vigil in the State ahead of Republic Day. � PTI
