DIBRUGARH, May 12 The ongoing strike at the Assam Medical College and Hospital here entered the fourth day today with the agitating students not showing signs of relenting and threatening to intensify their stir in the event of failure on the part of the government to fulfill their demands relating to Dr Sarita Tasniwal murder.

Animesh Debnath, general secretary, Assam Medical College Students Union (AMCSU) said that although the medical students abstained from classes and medical practices, emergency medical services were being carried out by senior medical doctors. We do not want the patients to suffer due to our strike, Debnath said, although the ambience in the AMC by and large tells otherwise.

The AMCSU leader said that they are looking forward to 4 pm tomorrow, the time when Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to pronounce the governments stand on security measures, CBI inquiry and other demands.
