Amba Medhi Football Tournament

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

MANGALDAI, Sept 29 - The Jharkhand-based South Eastern Railway FC today made an unprecedented exit from the 36th Amba Medhi Invitational Prize Money Football tournament as they suffered a solitary goal defeat against the 16th AP (IR)Bn, Morigaon in their very first match here at the Mangaldai Stadium.

After a barren first half, substitute striker Hari Gogoi struck the winning goal in the 60th minute with a solo effort from the right flank. The railway team looked relatively out of touch as their forwards, led by A Ali and T Murmur, failed to penetrate the solid police defence spearheaded by full backs Rupam Boro and Olando.

The margin of victory for the winners would have been bigger but for some splendid job by the guest custodian Surajit Kar under the bar on several occasions.

Todays match: Koochbehar MB Vs GBFA, Gossaigaon.
