All-religion prayer held at Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, July 20 � In a bid to restore peace, communal harmony and normalcy in BTAD areas an all religion prayer was held at Bodofa cultural complex here today.

The BTC Government organised the mass prayer where a large number of people irrespective of caste and creed attended the prayer. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari, State Cabinet minister Chandan Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP, Biswajit Daimary, MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC EM Derhasat Basumatary among others attended the mass prayer for peace, integrity and unity in BTAD.

Talking to media person, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said that BTC Government has decided to organise a mass prayer every year on July 20 for peace, integrity and unity in BTAD area. He further said that last year on this day communal violence sprayed in Chirang, Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts of lower Assam where a large number of people lost their life.

At the same time he also alleged that incidents of extortion and kidnapping carried out by NDFB cadres in BTAD areas has posed a threat to peace process and NDFB is always trying to destabilized the peace and normalcy in BTAD areas by doing such anti-social activities. No actions have been initiated by the government against them, he said. He also urged the NDFB to come forward for peace talk and to shun the path of violence.
