All-party team visits Bangla border

GUWAHATI, Oct 15 � An all-party delegation of the Assam Legislative Assembly, which visited the Indo-Bangladesh open border area in Karimganj district today, will submit a report on the situation along the international border to the State Government.

The delegation, led by Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Bhimananda Tanti, made a spot study on the 2.27 km unfenced border in the Lathitilla and Dumbari area, about 70 km from the district headquarters.

The team had also an interaction with senior officials of the BSF at Lathitilla today. Earlier on Tuesday, the team visited the Sutarkandi Indo-Bangla trade centre and exchanged packets of sweets with the Bangladesh Border Guard security personnel, said an official release.
