AIFF official visits city

GUWAHATI, June 10 � Anju Turambekar, All India Football Federation�s (AIFF) Manager for Grassroots Development Programme along with Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta visited the APRO Grassroots Football Coaching Centre at Jalukbari on Monday.

Turambekar also inaugurated a workshop of children in the age group of 6-12 years under the Grassroots Programme and expressed happiness over the training system in the centre.

Ankur Dutta stated that the APRO Centre can play a pivotal role in training the upcoming grassroots level kids in the techniques of modern-day football to create a pool of talented footballers of Assam. He appreciated the support extended by Prasanta Saikia, SP (Commn) Trg and APRO authorities in this regard.

Turambekar thanked coach Luchan Saikia for his painstaking efforts with the children and stated that professional coaching programmes will be planned and all possible technical and financial assistance will be extended from the AIFF towards further development of the APRO Grassroots Centre as one of the best in the country.

Centre opened at Lutoma: The AIFF official also visited the Lutoma Football Coaching Centre, Barsapara here yesterday. The Assam Football Association has brought the centre under its fold as training centre for youngsters.
