AGSU opens flood relief centre

GUWAHATI, July 20 - The All Guwahati Students� Union (AGSU) today opened a relief collection centre for flood-hit people on its Swahid Bhawan campus at Uzanbazar.

In view of the present flood situation in the State, the student body has appealed to the people to generously donate food items, especially baby food, that would be distributed among the flood-hit people.

�Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of districts in State are reeling under devastating floods and lakhs of people have been evacuated from their homes and are living in relief camps. As people of Assam, it is our responsibility to extend a helping hand to our people marooned due to floods. Individuals and organisations interested in extending help can give food items and baby food at Swahid Bhawan, which will be given to the needy through the AASU network,� AGSU office-bearers Simanta Thakuria and Tapan Kalita appealed.
