GUWAHATI, June 27 - Opposing the Central governments decision to auction small oil and natural gas fields in Assam, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today asked it to reconsider the decision.

AGP general secretary Dr Kamalakanta Kalita stated that handing over the natural resources of Assam to the private sector would be against the interests of the State.

The AGP had always opposed such moves and in future also it would register its protest. Taking into account the sentiments of the people of Assam and various indigenous organisations, the Centre must review its decision, he added.

The alliance partner of the Government of Assam also demanded that the State must have all the rights over its natural resources.
