Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 The AGP today strongly criticized senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy for his comments on the Assam Accord and the river-linking project.

In a release here, the AGP said that by describing the Assam Accord as an outdated one, Swamy had insulted the sacrifices of 855 martyrs of the Assam movement. The AGP said that the BJP should make its stand clear on implementing the Assam Accord.

The AGP pointed out that before the elections, Narendra Modi had declared that the Bangladeshi nationals would have to leave the country after May 16 but even after six months of assuming office as the Prime Minister, no effective step has been taken to deal with the problem of infiltration of foreigners.
