GUWAHATI, Nov 16 - The AGP has vehemently opposed the move of the BJP-led Central government to enhance service tax on the plea of supporting the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It has also opposed the move of the Centre to hike the prices of petrol and diesel. It demanded immediate steps to roll back all such hikes.

In a statement, AGP general secretary Durga Das Boro has asked the BJP to explain as to how these steps are linked with the better days (achhe din) it had promised to the people in 2014 prior to the Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP-led Central government has emerged as a stumbling block for the countrys common people in leading a simple and stress-free life. With its policies, it has caused abnormal rise in prices of essential commodities, making life miserable for the people, said the leader.

The economic policies of the Centre also pose a serious threat to economically weaker states like Assam, he alleged.
