NEW DELHI, Dec 17 Alleging that Assams Republic Day Tableau was rejected on the ground that legendary Asom General Sukapha was a foreigner, the AGP has demanded an inquiry into the fiasco. The Ahom King was the theme of the Tableau.

Moving a Special Mention in Rajya Sabha, AGP MP Kumar Deepak Das said that the State Cultural Department had placed before the scrutiny committee a proposal for a tableau for next years Republic Day parade depicting Sukapha.

But, Das alleged, the Committee rejected the proposal, triggering an agitation in Assam. He further alleged that the Committee had remarked that Sukapha was a foreigner, which is an outright insult to the sentiment of the people of the State, he said, adding that the disregard of his legacy has hurt the people.
