Agartala-Kolkata train from Oct 8

AGARTALA, Oct 6 - The much-awaited direct train service between Agartala and Kolkata would be flagged off on October 8 in what is seen as puja bonanza for the people of Tripura.

Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has already given the green signal to the proposal of starting the Agartala-Kolkata train service on the day of Maha Saptami Puja.

Initially, Kanchanjunga Express which is running between Guwahati and Kolkata daily will be extended up to Agartala twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

As per the schedule, the inaugural train will leave Agartala station on Saturday at 5.15 am. It is scheduled to reach Guwahati the same night at 8 pm and will reach destination (Sealdah) the following morning.
