Agar traders� body submits memo to CM

GUWAHATI, Oct 20 � A delegation of All Assam Agar Traders and Agar Oil Manufacturers� Association, led by its secretary Shamsul Islam, met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at his official residence last evening and submitted a memorandum to him listing some of its demands.

The association requested the Chief Minister to exempt agarwood industries of the State from the purview of the Assam Wood Based Industries (Establishment and Regulation) Rules 2000 and bring them under the secondary wood-based industries. It also pleaded with the Chief Minister to declare Hojai as a special industrial estate for agarwood industries, an official release said.

The Chief Minister said that his Government would look into the demands of the association in right earnest. Minister of Environment & Forests Rockybul Hussain was also present.
