Addl FIR in minor assault case

GUWAHATI, April 24 - Universal Team for Social Action and Help (UTSAH), an NGO working for the rights of children, today lodged an additional First Information Report (FIR) with the Sonapur Police Station in connection with the incident related to physical assault on a differently-able child on the premises of Society for Health, Education, Development (SHED), a non-governmental organisation.

The FIR was lodged against Lanu A Aimol, who runs SHED; Hiranya Saikia, manager SHED; Lt Colonel (retired) Bhim Anal, president, SHED; NG W Moyob, secretary SHED; Kishan Maan and Dipanita Medhi.

The FIR has been lodged by UTSAH alleging violation of several sections of the Indian Penal Code, Juvenile Justice Act and Persons with Disabilities Act.

Miquel Das Queah of UTSAH also alleged in the FIR that Lanu A Aimol runs the organisation (SHED) incognito despite being a staff of the Composite Regional Center for Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

A special child hailing from Arunachal Pradesh was beaten black and blue by some employees of SHED located in Sonapur area, after which police arrested three persons on April 19.
