ACKHSA for better train services from Silchar

SILCHAR, Feb 23 - Highlighting the legitimate demands of 4 million people of Barak Valley, the All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students� Union (ACKHSA) placed a charter of demands before HK Jaggi, General Manager NF Railway during a recent meeting at Maligaon.

Interacting with the media on Thursday, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, chief advisor of the students� body, said that they had placed a number of demands. like the Kanchenjunga Express connecting Silchar with Sealdah must operate on a daily basis. Further, long-distance trains to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai must be commissioned immediately, they pleaded.

The ACKHSA also informed the General Manager about the needless delay by both Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger and the recently-introduced Kanchenjunga Express train on their way to Guwahati and sought his intervention for the interest of the passengers.

Besides improved passenger security and cleanliness inside the compartments, the students� body also pressed for restoration of trains like the Barak Valley Express and Cachar Express.

Moreover, it also demanded early commissioning of trains from Agartala.
