GUWAHATI, Dec 6 - The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will hold its Governing Body meeting on December 16 where the date for the elections will be finalised.

Addressing the media here today, ACA vice president Devajit Saikia revealed that the State cricket body has been placed as a completely compliant state by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) after scrutinising the new constitution. With the new constitution well in place, the ACA is all set to go for elections.

We already have an Electoral Officer with Biren Dutta in charge to conduct the ACA elections according to the new constitution, said Saikia.

There will be five office bearers according to the new constitution who will be contesting the elections.

For the first time a CEO will be in place and will play a significant role. He will be recruited by the Apex Council and he must be a management professional having had the experience of working in a reputed company for at least 10 years. Along with the CEO, there will be six managers in six zones who will be operating under the CEO, he added.

Asked regarding the lack of a proper bench strength, Saikia said that the ACA is very much looking forward to introduce the Assam Premier League.

We are looking forward to introduce the Assam Premier League somewhat on the lines of the IPL. This will provide a lot of opportunities to the players to showcase their talent.

The lack of grounds and proper playing conditions is a serious issue which needs to be looked upon and we are trying to do whatever is required to be done, he said.

Also present on the occasion was secretary Pradip Buragohain.
