Tezpur, Nov 6 (PTI): An official of a tea garden, who was abducted last week, has been released by his abductors today in Sonitpur district, police said.

Dhekiajuli Tea Estate assistant manager Dhrubajyoti Talukdar was let off near Tinkhora Tea Estate, about 7 km from his tea garden, at around 1 am (IST), they said. Talukdar told police that he was treated well by his abductors.

Denying the involvement of NDFB in the abduction, the police said, personal grudges might be a reason behind the abduction.

Talukdar was abducted by a group of four persons when he was returning to his residence after making weekly payment to the tea garden labourers on October 30 last. The culprits had taken him away on his motorbike at gunpoint towards Dhekiajuli town.
