GUWAHATI, Feb 25 - The North East Students� Organisation (NESO) and All Assam Students� Union (AASU), in a joint statement here today, expressed serious concern over the latest developments in Arunachal Pradesh over the issue of Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC).
The student bodies have made an appeal to all concerned to restore peace and order in the neighbouring state and demanded of the Arunachal Pradesh Government to ensure safety of the life and property of the common people and to adequately compensate those who have been affected by the violent incidents in the state.
AASU has described the violent incidents in the neighbouring state as very unfortunate. An artistes� troupe from Assam has to face a perilous situation in the neighbouring state. Their vehicles and instruments have also been destroyed. The Arunachal Pradesh Government is to compensate the damage caused to the vehicles and instruments of these artistes by those who recently perpetrated violence.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Students� Union (AAPSU) has assured AASU that it would ensure safe return of the members of the artistes� troupe to Assam. AASU, NESO and AAPSU are in touch with the members of the artistes� troupe, said AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi.
