GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - Expressing resentment and anguish over non-resumption of the physical courts in the State, the All Assam Lawyers Association (AALA) has written to the five-judge committee explaining the miserable condition of the lawyers and litigant public alike.

The apex body of 49 bar associations of the State said it cannot remain a mute spectator to the acute hardship of the fellow advocates due to no work in the court and that it would be reluctantly compelled to launch a second phase of lawyers agitation for their survival.

The advocates body also expressed its resentment at the unilateral decision of the judges committee to continue with the earlier arrangement of virtual court till September 5. Despite an understanding during the stakeholders meeting on August 17, the opinions and suggestions of the stakeholders were ignored, causing widespread resentment among the lawyers and the public, AALA added.
