GUWAHATI, Feb 8 - The Airports Authority of India (AAI) inaugurated the Regional Training Centre (RTC) for Air Navigation Services (ANS) professionals at its regional headquarters here today.

The centre was inaugurated by Vineet Gulati, the member of Air Navigation Services, AAI.

Airports Authority of India, being the largest Airport Operator and Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) in India, has been providing the aeronautical telecommunication services (part of Global Aviation Telecommunication Network), including the Aeronautical Fixed Services (AFS) to manage its civil aviation requirements in order to ensure safe and expeditious air transportation system. The establishment of a strong ground data network is the first essential step in improving the efficiency and integrity of ground-ground/ground air ATS data communications, stated a press release issued by AAI.

Though the AAI has one premier training institute at Prayagraj Civil Aviation Training College, it is not able to fulfil the requirement of providing training to a large number of persons who are being inducted, and even existing personnel due to limited capacity.

The function was attended by other top AAI officials.
