8,000 AMSU members join Aikya Sena Asom

SIVASAGAR, Aug 26 - Around 8,000 members of the various district units of the All Minority Students� Union (AMSU) in Upper Assam today joined the Aikya Sena Asom.

The members joined the Aikya Sena under the leadership of its president Sanjeeb Mahanta, working president Debojit Sarmah, chief secretary Shahidul Islam, and general secretary and president of the Sivasagar district unit Farid Islam Bora.

At a convention held in the Bapuji School Field in Konwarpur near here, more than 2,000 youths and students from five Upper Assam districts took oath of allegiance to the Aikya Sena, which was formed around two years back in Guwahati.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Nekibur Zaman, advocate of the Gauhati High Court, journalist Atanu Bora, Jamalluddin Ahmed and many senior citizens.
