68 persons, including ADC, test positive for virus in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI, July 8 - As many as 68 persons tested positive for the COVID-19 during the last 24 hours. One Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) is also among the persons who tested positive for the virus. The result of the swab test of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, which was collected on Saturday, was received here on Tuesday evening. However, the test results of all other swab samples of the officials and staff of the Darrang Deputy Commissioner�s establishment, including Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, have tested negative.

Talking to this newspaper, Deputy Commissioner Borah said, �Except one ADC, all other people whose swab samples were sent for test have been found negative. Altogether 30 samples were sent for the test on Saturday last. Today, I have resumed my office work.�

Deputy Commissioner Borah and all his fellow staff earlier were under home quarantine after swab collections following the office PA of the Deputy Commissioner came in contact with a positive person on the previous day. However, the test results of the PA and his family members are yet to be received.

Meanwhile, the ADC, who was earlier admitted at Mangaldai Civil Hospital, has been shifted to GMCH on Wednesday on request of his family members in Guwahati.

On the other hand, service of the SBI, Mangaldai, has suffered for the five consecutive days on Wednesday as the results of the swab tests collected from the staff are yet to be received.

�The administration has removed the containment zone signboard from the SBI premises. But we are unable to resume our service as we are yet to receive the results of the swab samples that were collected on July 3,� said Uttam Kalita, Chief Manager of SBI, Mangaldai, while talking to this correspondent on Wednesday afternoon.

It may be mentioned here that the SBI branch was declared as a containment zone after one of its Grade 4 staff tested positive for the virus on Friday last.
