5 surrendered ultras arrested in murder case

IMPHAL, July 1 - Manipur police have arrested five surrendered members of KCP-KK Nganba including its chairman Chongtham Manglemjao alias KK Nganba (63) in connection with the murder of former vice chairman of Prepak inside Manipur Rifles campus near here.

Two 9mm pistols used in the incident along with five live rounds were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons, said DGP LM Khoute while briefing reporters here on Wednesday.

SP Angam said that Thokchom Gouri alias Ibungo (25) of KCP-KK Nganba, currently taking shelter at Manipur Rifles camp at Khabeisoi where the former Prepak leader was assassinated on June 22, was arrested on June 25 last.

Later, two more members of KCP-KK Nganba � A Kingson alias Yaiphaba (23) and L Naocha alias Malangba (24) were arrested. Two 9mm pistols were recovered from them based on the disclosure made by Gauri during the interrogation.

All the arrested persons were produced before the court of CJM Imphal East and remanded in police custody till July 8.
