5 dacoits nabbed by Golaghat Police

JORHAT, June 23 - A team led by Golaghat Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Dhruba Bora last night arrested a gang of five dreaded dacoits from Telgaram area under Numaligarh police outpost when the gang was about to loot a bank.

Bora told The Assam Tribune this evening that acting on a tip-off, the gang, hailing from Barpeta district in Lower Assam, were waylaid by the police party when the gang members were about to loot a bank at Murphalani area.

Bora said that two cars, a gas cylinder, gas cutter, cables and several instruments that would be needed to break bank locks and safes were recovered from their possession.

The gang members are: Razak Ali, Mohammed Saharuddin, Zamal Badshah, Zahidul Ali and Mujamuddin.

The Additional SP said that the gang was wanted in several cases of dacoity in different districts.
