42 villages in Nalbari dist submerged, 1 swept away

NALBARI, July 12 - The overall flood situation in Nalbari district has turned critical as 42 villages under six revenue circles have been reeling under the swirling waters.

Flood waters of the swollen Pagladia river today swept away a person named Sayad Ali of Maju Siral village under Ghograpar revenue circle.

SDRF jawans deployed in a search operation had so far failed to recover Sayad�s body.

According to official sources, the flood waters submerged seven villages at Barkshetri revenue circle,10 villages under Paschim Nalbari revenue circle, nine villages under Ghograpar revenue circle, eight villages under Tihu revenue circle, four each at Nalbari and Barbhag revenue circles respectively.

A population of over 21,838 people were adversely affected till the time of filing this report.The flood waters also affected surface communication at Chataibari area under Ghograpar revenue circle and Haribhanga area under Tihu circle.

No relief material was distributed among the flood-affected people in the district.
