AGARTALA, Dec 27 - Additional District and Sessions Court, West Tripura has found three NLFT insurgents guilty in Jarulbachi massacre in the district.
The three guilty insurgents include Mangal Debabarma, Falguni Debbarma and Binoy Debbarma. In the second phase, trial was conducted against six NLFT militants but the court acquitted three persons due to lack of substantial evidence.
However, the court recently found three NLFT ultras � Madan, Falguni and Binoy guilty in the massacre in which 15 innocent villagers died and six more were injured.
Earlier, the then Additional District and Sessions Judge Subhash Bhattacharjee had given capital punishment to Achak Debbarma while life term rigorous imprisonment was awarded to Gandhi Debbarma for killing of 15 innocent villagers. While Achak�s execution is pending with the Supreme Court, another convict is still absconding.
A heavily armed group of NLFT swooped down on Jarulbachi area under Takarjala police station on February 11, 1997 and sprayed bullets. In the attack, altogether 15 villagers died while six others were injured, escalating riots in the State.
