GUWAHATI, Jan 24 � The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Flood Management Programme (IMC-FMP) for the 12th Five Year Plan has approved 27 flood management programmes of the State worth Rs 1,004.1547 crore. The projects, which were proposed between 2011 and 2013, are slated to be completed within the next (2014-15) financial year.
While 13 of the projects have been sanctioned with a funding pattern of 70:30, the rest of the projects have been sanctioned with a funding pattern of 90:10 with the State�s share being 30 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, said sources in the State Water Resources Department (WRD).
The projects cleared by the Committee include the flood management of the river Ranganadi along with river training works on both bank embankments in Lakhimpur district (Rs 3614292 crore), flood management of the river Dikrong along with river training works on both bank embankments in Lakhimpur district (Rs 106.96 crore) and protection of the Brahmaputra dyke from Sissikalghar to Tekeliphuta at different reaches from Lotasur to Tekeliphuta from erosion (Rs 155.3667 crore).
The projects also include Phase-V of the anti-erosion measures to protect Sualkuchi town from the erosion of the Brahmaputra (Rs 22.71 crore), channelisation of the river Gangadhar between Chilarai Bridge and Railway Bridge to protect Pub-Kanori Ratiadah and Golokganj town from the erosion by the Gangadhar (Rs12.42 crore), construction of retirement bund/dyke from Balikuchi to Beldubi from chainage 33.94 km (at Jaleswar) connecting the DRDA bund at Nichipur, including anti-erosion measures (Rs 24.48 crore), protection of Sonabarighat, Uttarkrishnapur and Weavers� Colony-Beranga Nath Para areas from the erosion of the Barak (Rs 22.35 crore) and anti-erosion measures at Panchgram Das Colony area to protect it from the erosion of the Barak (Rs 17.57 crore), among others.
