AIZAWL, March 4 - As many as 25 people were arrested and fined during a raid at two places by the Anti-Tobacco Squad (ATS) constituted under Mizoram State Tobacco Control Society for violation of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
The ATS on Thursday raided New Market locality here and arrested 23 people for violation of COTPA. The arrested people found smoking in prohibited areas were also fined. The ATS also checked whether cigarettes packets without pictorial warning were sold in the locality.
In another raid, the ATS on Wednesday arrested two persons in Siaha for violation of COTPA and illegally smoking in public place.
