20 villages in Bokakhat hit

BOKAKHAT, Sept 4 - The Brahmaputra and Dhansiri rivers have adversely affected more than 20 villages under Mohura and Rangamati Mouza under Bokakhat LAC in recent days.

The Rohita and Kemeri connecting road had been breached and the bamboo bridge constructed by the local people of Afola village has been washed away. The increasing water level of Gela Beel has badly affected the villagers of Riri, Elengmari and Dolopa. The local MLA and SDO(C) of Bokakhat visited the affected area and asked the Revenue Department to assesss the damages sustained by the villagers.

In the meantime, the flood situation in KNP has not improved, though the water level of the Brahmaputra has not registered an increase. A major part of the Park is still under water.
