2 OIL officials evacuated from Libya

GUWAHATI, Feb 27 � Two Oil India Limited (OIL) officials together with their families were successfully evacuated from Libya today. One of the officials included Ghana Gogoi of Sivasagar district in Assam.

Revealing this here today, BN Talukdar, director (exploration and development), OIL, told The Assam Tribune that the two families landed in New Delhi this morning and were in good health and spirits.

�We took up the matter of evacuating the two families with the Union Ministry of External Affairs. As Air India does not operate in Libya, landing permission had to be secured,� Talukdar informed.

The director (exploration and development), further revealed that some 18,000 Indians were stated to be working in Libya in different sectors.
