2 jawans hurt in Manipur attack

IMPHAL, May 14 � Two army personnel were reportedly injured during an attack near the Teikhuthang village on the Indo-Myanmar border around 6 am today, reports said.

Sources said the incident took place when troops of 25 Madras Regiment which recently replaced the Gorkha Regiment post located near the village, were on a foot patrol in the border area.

The injured jawans have been rushed to the Military Hospital at Leimakhong near Imphal for treatment.

In another incident, security personnel guarding the Raj Bhavan here today detected a bomb weighing around 400 grams along with three detonators in the high security Governor�s Road around 9.30 am today. Some suspects have been detained for questioning.

Police also recovered a Chinese-made hand grenade from the residence of one Thokchom Kesho, Superintending Engineer in the Command Area Development Authority (CADA), here today. A team of bomb experts defused the bomb, reports said.
