2 GNLA ultras apprehended

GOALPARA, May 17 � Two Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were apprehended recently near Medhipara (Signboard) along the Phutamati-Rongsai road in a joint operation conducted by the Lakhipur Army Camp of the Red Horn Division and Lakhipur police station and two 7.65 mm pistols (China made) and two live rounds were recovered from them.

These militants were travelling in a TATA Sumo from Meghalaya to Assam and were said to be involved in extortion activities and during interrogation by the police they confessed that they were working with the terrorist outfit for the last three to four years and were on their way to Rangsai to kidnap a local trader, Army sources revealed.
