2-day police custody to MD of NGO

JALUKBARI, June 9 - MD of the Indian Institute of Research and Development for Differently Abled Ramani Barman who was arrested by Jalukbari Police Outpost yesterday for allegedly sexually harassing a 22-year-old woman employee of the organisation over a long period of time, was sent to two days� police custody today, said the investigating officer.

As reported in The Assam Tribune today, the body of the harassed woman was found hanging in the hostel of the NGO on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, noted academician Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury and Vice Chancellor of the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Dr Hitesh Deka have resigned from the board of directors of the institute in the backdrop of the latest developments.
