2 buildings damaged in lightning strikes

AIZAWL, April 1 - Two buildings were damaged and one of them caught fire, when lightning struck the Assam-Mizoram border town of Bairabi and Sechhip in Mizoram, officials said today.

A furniture shop owned by Zoliankhuma of Bairabi in Kolasib district was struck by lightning last evening and the building caught fire gutting everything including saw machines.

In another incident, lightning hit the house of Lalfakzuala in Serchhip town, forcing the family to evacuate the building and stay with relatives.

No one was killed or injured in the incidents but several houses were damaged across the State due to pre-monsoon rainfall accompanied by squall yesterday. � PTI
