14 buses seized on Day 2 of Transport dept crackdown

GUWAHATI, Feb 14 - Carrying on with its crackdown against erring city buses, the Transport Department continued its special drive for the second consecutive day today by deploying 20 teams of enforcement officials.

In total, 14 vehicles were seized today, seven e-challans issued, and Rs 14, 500 compounding fine realized.

Drives have been conducted specifically to check display plate of �Route No.�, �Route Permit No.�, �Police WhatsApp No.�, �Road Safety Slogan�, closing of doors of the buses while in motion, proper usage of entry and exit doors, re-canalisation of route permit in different routes, etc, an official release said.

Four senior officials in the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Transport and Assistant Commissioner of Transport are supervising and monitoring the enforcement activities by the teams on the spot.
