GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - Assam witnessed a total of 1,321 murders, 2,030 rapes, 9,080 assault cases and 1,514 clashes during the period from May 2016 to June 2017.
This was stated in the Assembly today by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary in reply to a question by AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam.
On the issue of murder of ABMSU leader Lafikul Islam, he said three persons had been arrested and that following a request by the State government, the Centre was taking steps for handing over the probe to the CBI.
