11.29 kg of gold bars seized in Aizawl

AIZAWL, Dec 2 - Directorate of Revenue Intelligence staff seized 68 gold biscuits weighing 11,288 grams at Kawnpui in Kolasib district in the wee hours on Saturday.

One Malsawmdawngzela (24), a resident of Zemabawk locality here, was arrested in this connection.

The gold biscuits which bear no inscription of foreign origin are valued at Rs 3.59 crore. They were recovered from a Tata Sumo that the accused was driving. The gold bars are believed to have been smuggled from Myanmar into India.
