BARPETA, June 1 - Spike of COVID-19 cases in Barpeta district continues even as 11 new cases were detected today. All the 11 are known to be returnees from outside the State and inmates of different quarantine centres of the district.
As many as 12 new cases were diagnosed yesterday from among three quarantine centres of the district.
With the addition of 23 within two days, the number of coronavirus-infected persons in the district has gone up to 38.
However in a major relief, eight COVID-19 patients have been released from Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital after they were cured.
Meanwhile, as many as 190 persons were released from institutional quarantine from different centres across the district after their test results came out negative. Four persons were also released from Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital.
