10-yr-old girl bags silver at Mizoram State Games

AIZAWL, Dec 11 - A remarkable feat was witnessed at the ongoing Mizoram State Games when a ten-year-old athlete won the silver medal in the women�s 5000-metre race.

Contesting against top athletes of the State, Mimi Lalthazuali, a student of Class III, finished second in the open category.

Mimi�s prodigious talent was first spotted in 2013. Since then, she has been regularly practising on the tracks at the Assam Rifles Ground every evening under the watchful eyes of her grandfather.

Mimi is planning to compete in another running event during the current State Games.

As many as 7,447 athletes representing 40 Assembly constituencies are competing in 221 events under 32 disciplines.
