1 held for inflammatory posts on social media

SHILLONG, June 20 - The cyber crime police station here has booked one person and registered nine cases with regard to posting of inflammatory material on the social media.

The arrested person has been identified as Manbhalang Nongspung. Nongspung has since been remanded in judicial custody. The police said nine other cases have been registered by the cyber crime police station so far.

They added many individuals have been called for interrogation and added that action would be taken against those who have violated the law.

The police said posting of inflammatory material is liable for legal action under the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.
