1 arrested in Garo Hills kidnapping case

TURA, Oct 4 - Not much headway has been made in the case of kidnapping of nine people from a bus that was travelling from Dudhnoi to Shallang in West Khasi Hills on September 28.

The kidnapping had taken place near Wageasi village in North Garo Hills. Despite the daily search operations being conducted the kidnappers and the victims have not yet been found.

The police have arrested one person in the case who allegedly was a part of the group. �We have arrested one person who was acting as a spotter for the kidnappers. Search operations are on and we are hopeful of a breakthrough�, said North Garo Hills police chief, Ramesh Singh.

Rai is amongst the nine kidnapped. Most families of victims have shied away from filing an FIR. � Correspondent
