MIRZA, Sept 3 - All India Coordinated Research Project on Palms under Horticultural Research Station (HRS), Kahikuchi near Borjhar, observed World Coconut Day on Wednesday at Uparhali with activities like tree plantation, awareness generation, training and farmer-scientist interactions.
Principal Investigator Dr JC Nath spoke on industrial use of coconut, post harvest management and product diversification to make coconut cultivation more remunerative.
Scientist Rinku Moni Phukon spoke on the selection of mother palm to get quality seed nut, method of planting of seedlings and fertilizer application, while principal scientist Dr S Pathak spoke about the various diseases and pest management technology.
Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Kamrup, president Munindra Das was also present.
