World Animals Day observed

IMPHAL, Oct 5 - People for Animals (PFA) Manipur relocated 12 rare wild animals at Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary in Chandel district of Manipur under �New Home� programme on World Animals Day yesterday.

�Two barking deer, two Bengal slow loris, five common cobras and an elongated turtle were relocated amid the celebration of Wildlife Week,� said PFA Managing Trustee L Biswajeet Meitei, in a press release on Monday.

Most of the animals were rescued as orphaned, injured or sick. Wild animals affected by the recent flood were also among them, he said. Twenty numbers of Spotted dove and six numbers of turtles are also to be relocated soon, he added.
