Woman arrested in Silchar

SILCHAR, July 31 - Based on the complaint of Sanghita Dey, a job seeker at the District Agriculture Office here, Cachar police on Sunday arrested a 64-year-old woman allegedly in a cash for job case.

According to police, the arrested has been identified as Purabi Dutta, a resident of Silchar and a retired employee of the Agriculture office. She was arrested on charges of amassing huge sums of money from Sanghita with promise to get her a job in the department. When she failed to keep her promise, Purabi hesitated to return the money, the complainant said in the FIR.

A senior police official said that the woman was sent to jail after she was produced before the Court.

Two arrested with drugs: Ajim Uddin Laskar (38) and Hasna Begum (36), both residents of Madhurband Gangpar area were arrested from their residences and as many as 46 small plastic containers with packets of drugs were seized from their possession. They would be produced before the Court on Monday, police informed.
