HAFLONG, March 12 � With the inauguration of a water treatment plant constructed by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department here, a long-felt demand of the people of the greater Haflong has been fulfilled.
The Chief Executive Member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council, Debojeet Thaosen inaugurated the water treatment plant on Tuesday in the presence of Executive Member Debo Prasad Hojai, in-charge, PHE.
The plant is a rapid sand filter and is estimated to filter about 1.40 lakh litres of water in an hour.
The programme was also attended by Executive Engineer, PHE, Lokman Ali, Haflong Town Committee chairman Kalijoy Sengyung, vice chairman John Phoitong, among others.
