Water supply schemes discussed

GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - State Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Rihon Doimari today held a divisional-level review meeting of the department with top officials in the conference hall of the Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) of PHED.

A statement issued in this regard said that at the meeting, the key issues related to defunct water supply schemes of 2017-18 were thoroughly discussed and a comprehensive strategy was planned to revive the schemes. Besides, the status of some defunct water supply schemes of 2014-15 was also discussed. The status of 122 water supply schemes (WSS) under the National Water Quality Sub Mission (NWQSM), which is especially for the quality-affected areas, was specially emphasised.

The process of administrative approval of revalidation of WSS under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and State Own Priority Development (SOPD) fund was also discussed at the meeting. The progress status of schemes under Mission 100, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, was also reviewed along with the status of geo-tagging of PWSS, the statement added.
