GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - The Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board (AUWSSB) will start production of mineral water soon. Bokajan MLA and newly-appointed Chairman of the Board Numal Momin made the announcement on the first day of his office here today.

Very soon the AUWSSB will start production of mineral water in the State and it will be supplied to common people in urban areas. Today we have decided to start the project, Momin said.

He also informed that altogether 33 projects have been running under the AUWSSB in 50 urban areas of the State. The number of projects will be increased to 69 with initiation of new projects in coming days.

Under the 5th Finance Commission, there are altogether nine projects sanctioned for the AUWSSB with a cost of Rs 78 crore. We will start all those projects very soon and tender will be floated within a week, Momin said.

He said that the AUWSSB has set a deadline to complete all projects within 2020.

Under AUWSSB, some projects started during Congress rule, are in a very pathetic condition. We will now renovate those projects. Some unnecessary segments of those projects may be eliminated. I have around two-and-a-half years of time and I am sure all those projects will be complete within this time, he said.
