DIPHU, Nov 4 - The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has decided to restrict the entry of vehicles without passes to the KAAC Secretariat with effect from November 7.
A meeting in this regard was held at the office chamber of Tenson Engti, Joint Secretary, General Administration Department, where the Deputy Secretary (Personnel), District Information and Public Relations, Executive Engineer and Transport officials were present to discuss the issue of car passes for securing entry to the KAAC Secretariat here.
The Joint Secretary said that car passes have been made mandatory from November 7, and that all private and non-official vehicles would be stopped at the first gate near the highway roadside.
Car passes have been issued to all Executive Members, MACs, Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, officers of the KAAC Secretariat, Government officials and departmental vehicles.
The restriction has been imposed by the KAAC administration in view of the congestion caused by the unregulated entry of vehicles to the KAAC Secretariat, which often causes a haphazard situation inside the premises, thereby hindering free vehicular movement.
