IMPHAL, Sept 2 - Problems are likely to return soon in Manipur University as the three organisations Manipur University Students Union (MUSU), Manipur University Teachers Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staffs Association (MUSA) have threatened to launch agitations after September 4 if the competent authority fails to take appropriate action against Vice Chancellor Prof AP Pandey by the deadline.

The latest move of MUSU, MUSA and MUTA has been triggered by the reported order issued by Prof AP Pandey on Saturday intimating the Registrar of Manipur University that he has resumed duty with immediate effect.

According to the three varsity bodies, the order of Prof AP Pandey is against the spirit of the agreement reached on August 16 between Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the three

organisations.

The agitators demand the removal of Pandey as Vice Chancellor accusing him of indulging in administrative and financial irregularities. The agitating organisations have also accused the VC of taking frequent leave.

MUSA, MUTA and MUSU lifted its agitation after 85 days owing to the August 16 agreement. According to that agreement, Prof AP Pandey was supposed to be on leave during the enquiry period.
