University joint registrar, junior engineer held for taking bribe from contractor in Rajasthan

JAIPUR, Oct 25: A junior engineer and the joint registrar of a university in Rajasthan were arrested here for taking a bribe of Rs 49,000 from a contractor, an anti-corruption bureau (ACB) spokesperson said.

Naresh Jangid, the junior engineer, and the joint registrar posted at MNIT engineering college took a bribe of Rs 42,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively, he said.

The duo had demanded the bribe from a contractor as a commission in renovation of a mechanical lab in the university.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. - PTI
